James grew up in a few small communities in Indiana (Winamac, Washington, and Odon, to be specific). He graduated in 1992 from Johnson Bible College, in Knoxville, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and specialty in preaching. He moved to Utah in 2002 after 10 years of youth ministry at First Christian Church in Francesville, Indiana. James began ministering to the Roy Christian congregation in July of 2002, overseeing the Education and Worship ministries.
Since January 1, 2007, James has been serving as "equipping minister," a title motivated by Ephesians 4. James sees his main responsibility as equipping and preparing God's people to serve Him and His kingdom, helping them mature as the body of Christ.
James married the former Stacy Stryker in September of 2004. Their son Cole was born January 2006, and daughter Cora arrived in May 2007. James enjoys cooking (especially pork on the grill), watching movies (specifically westerns), and listening to, playing, or singing music of all kinds. He's a fan of many great Indiana features--the Indianapolis Colts, pork tenderloin sandwiches, and the best sweet corn in the world. His newest favorite past-time is riding his Harley Davidson Sportster, an anniversary gift from Stacy.
