A Quick History

Roy Christian Church was founded December 1968 and met in a variety of places until February 1970 when the current location was purchased. A few years later the office property was incorporated into the church's land. The "little white house" was used until October 1982 when the present sanctuary and fellowship hall were dedicated. Since then two more projects have been undertaken--a two-story wing for education and an addition to the fellowship hall.
In her first few years the church was led by Neal Whittaker, Murl M. Jones, Don Hoffman, "Chaplin" Charlie Harnden, Harry "Buddy" Ropp, and Darrell "Dick" Ice. In 1979, Dennis Whisler was called to be RCC's preacher, serving the Lord and His people here until February 2009.  RCC has had several associate ministers. In 2002, James Sayers began serving as worship and discipleship pastor. Four and a half years later, James began serving as lead pastor.
From humble beginnings five decades ago, RCC has been serving the Roy community and trying to help people connect to Jesus, His family, and the world.  In the past decade, two staff members have planted new churches. In April 2013, former worship pastor Brent Captain launched Salt Christian Church in Davis County, Utah. Ben McClary served as RCC youth pastor from 2008 to 2010 and planted The Orchard Christian Church in Emmett, Idaho, in July 2013.
The Lord is continually blessing with His love and attention. We are excited to see what He has in store for Roy, for Utah, and the rest of the world!
