about us

Roy Christian Church was founded December 1968 and met in a variety of places until February 1970 when the current location was purchased. A few years later the office property was incorporated into the church's land. The "little white house" was used until October 1982 when the present sanctuary and fellowship hall were dedicated. Since then two more projects have been undertaken--a two-story wing for education and an addition to the fellowship hall.

In her first few years the church was led by Neal Whittaker, Murl M. Jones, Don Hoffman, "Chaplin" Charlie Harnden, Harry "Buddy" Ropp, and Darrell "Dick" Ice. In 1979, Dennis Whisler was called to be RCC's preacher, serving the Lord and His people here until February 2009.  RCC has had several associate ministers--Daniel Daugherty and Ben McClary, most recently.  In January of 2007, James Sayers began serving as "equipping minister" after a four and a half year stint as the worship and discipleship minister.  In August 2010, Brent Captain came from Florida to join the staff as the associate pastor, and Vanessa McCutchen was hired from within the congregation to direct our children's ministry.

From humble beginnings four decades ago, RCC has been serving the Roy community and trying to help people connect to Jesus, His family, and the world.  The Lord continually blesses us with His love and attention. Our future in Him is bright!
